Changes

I LOVE THIS!!!

I love going through old pictures from the past and remembering where I used to be. I know that people didn't understand why I was always at "events" with my camera taking their pictures but today, I am so glad that I did.

There is a story behind every picture that I have taken.  A moment in time that we will never get back but have the ability to look at the picture and reflect on the moments past.

Although not the best picture ever taken, this was a weekly event for my best friend Mary and myself.  This was taken WAAAYYY back in 1999.  I look at this picture and can tell you exactly what we were doing :) and can feel how much fun we were having. We spent nearly every day together. I even went to a few of her classes with her at Ball State just because. She was always able to reach me because I ALWAYS had my pager on me. lol This picture makes me feel young again and reminds me that I had a the best friend a girl could ask for.

Or this pictureof myself (left), Mary (middle) and Brandy (right).  This was taken on Mary's 20th birthday.  Many, many memories made that night.  The one that sticks out the most.....RED BOONES.  Long story short, Mary spilt her red Boones all over Brandy's nice white sweater that night. Brandy as ticked & Mary's response....."Well who wears a white sweater to a party anyway?" This picture makes me laugh. It was a good night.

We had a very strong friendship that I am very thankful for. Not long after these pictures were taken I met Jeremy (my husband), Mary and I parted ways. I got married and she moved back to Brazil.  We both had kids and continued on with life...apart. After about 9 years we regained contact with one another and now.....have new pictures.

I was able to be around to watch her marry her best friend and be her maid of honor.  I am thankful for her friendship and know that when I look through all of my "old school" pictures that she is a part every memory attached to them.  This picture makes me feel proud and reminds me that I still have the best friend a girl could ask for.

We have both changed.....but these pictures remain the same

There's so much to say about this picture....I don't think that I have the words.  Kara and Amy two of my best friends from school.

I'm going to start with Amy and then go back to Kara.  I actually met Amy through Kara when I was a freshman in high school.  We had sooo much fun at her house.  There were really no rules there, so we would try to be wild and out of control but Amy was always the adult. lol I have so many memories with these two, there's too many to count.

And now to Kara.  I met Kara during the summer that I was going into third grade. We moved into a house across the street from her family.  I remember riding my bike up and down the road and her chasing me asking me what my name was.

I spent many nights at her house as a kid, playing games, eating Little Caesars pizza and fighting with her brother and his friends.  As she hit high school we separated for a bit, as we had different groups of friends now.  Somehow one day, we hung out again and it was all downhill from there (I think this was the day she took me to Amy's). lol

Kara was free spirited and goofy, a blast to be around.  If you were ever upset about something she would always make you laugh and forget about your problems.  She was very giving. She would sometimes take me to school and pick me up, even after she graduated.

I see these two and realize that we all really had a special bond. It's not too often that you can sit 3 girls in the same room and they not claw each other's eyes out, let alone all become best friends and stay best friends for years. I love them both so much.

I look at this picture and realize that while Kara was being free spirited, goofy and giving, there was a somebody inside that was hurting. I wish I knew then what I know now. I don't think there was much I could have done to change the outcome of Kara's life but at least I would be able to understand a little better the struggles she was going through.  Kara past away last October.  I miss her so much and wish things could have been different. I still think about all of our childhood memories and feel so blessed that I was able to be a part of her life for so long.  I am thankful the friendship that we had and the relationships that I was able to build with her family.

People change.....photos remain the same

This is why I am always carrying a camera.  To reflect on life's adventures and relive some old memories.  Some good, some bad and some sad.

I am now blessed to be able to shine the camera at my children and hopefully one day they will be thankful that I did.  They are going to change, grow up, become teenagers, go to prom, get married, but their childhood pictures will be just that. I hope that when they go through all of the pictures they will say "Oh, I remember this" or "that was a fun day" and in some cases "I'm glad we have this picture because it's all that we have left".

I love photos, because the best thing about it is that it never changes,
even when the person in it does
